Registration Opens for AWWF’s Youth on the Allagash 2025

Get ready for an unforgettable wilderness experience. The Allagash Wilderness Waterway Foundation (AWWF) is thrilled to announce the opening of registration for the 2025 Youth on the Allagash (YOTA) program.

This incredible opportunity allows eighth-grade students from the Valley Unified (MSAD 27) and Ashland (MSAD 32) school districts to immerse themselves in the pristine beauty of the Allagash River. In partnership with the Chewonki, we are offering three unique journeys that promise adventure, learning and lifelong memories.

This year, we are excited to offer two trips specifically for eighth-grade students from the Valley Unified School District (Fort Kent, Madawaska & St. Agatha/Frenchville), and one dedicated trip for Ashland eighth-graders.

Each of these extraordinary expeditions will be guided by the experienced and knowledgeable Chewonki staff, ensuring a safe and enriching wilderness experience. Participants will learn essential canoeing skills, explore the natural history of the Allagash, and develop a deep appreciation for the importance of conservation.

All three YOTA trips will commence on June 29 and conclude on July 1. This three-day, two-night adventure is designed to provide students with a hands-on introduction to the wilderness, fostering teamwork, resilience, and a connection to the natural world. From paddling through serene waters to camping under star-filled skies, participants will create lasting bonds with their peers and the environment.

Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to experience the magic of the Allagash. Spaces are limited, and registration is now open. Secure your spot today and prepare for an adventure that will shape your perspective and create memories to cherish forever. For more information and to register, please click here.
