Director, Casco
The Allagash Wilderness Waterway Foundation is excited to welcome Daniel Dinsmore as its new Director. Dan brings a diverse range of skills to this role, based on 30-plus years of professional experience in journalism, publishing, nonprofit management and philanthropy. Most recently, Dan was the Vice President of News & Audience at the Bangor Daily News. He was responsible for an impressive array of efforts aimed at protecting the long-term sustainability of local journalism through donor participation, collaborative partnerships and foundation support. Prior to joining the BDN, Dan was the Executive Director of the Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting (MCPIR), a nonpartisan, nonprofit civic news organization that focused on producing investigative and impact journalism for the citizens of Maine. Dan has also served as an editor and digital executive at the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram and as an editor at papers in Wisconsin and California. He also spent seven years in nonprofit management at the Healthcare Informatics Management Systems Society. Dan and his wife live in Casco, where they have raised four children.
OUR MISSION IS to enhance the wilderness character of the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, protect its environment, and preserve and foster knowledge and understanding of its natural, historic and cultural values. In close collaboration with the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands, we serve as the Friends of the Allagash.
